WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF HAND THERAPY?

Hand therapy is aimed at improving the so-called small motor skills, or precise hand and finger movements, as well as providing tactile sensations and getting to know different shapes thanks to them, material structures and acquiring the ability to distinguish them. But above all, it serves to achieve independence in the basic activities of everyday life.

PURPOSE OF HAND THERAPY

1. Supporting precise hand movements
2. Improvement of grip skills
3. Learning the ability to focus, and look
4. Strengthening concentration
5. Improvement of visual-motor coordination
6. Crossing the line of the body centre

    • children who are reluctant to undertake manual activities (painting, making plasticine models, arranging small items),
    • children having learning problems of everyday self-care activities (dressing, tying shoelaces, buttoning, etc.),
    • Patients with markedly reduced or increased muscle tone within the upper limb and shoulder girdle,
    • Patients having problems with the coordination of both hands during manipulation activities, people performing activities requiring high precision too slowly or too fast and carelessly,
    • people who do not like touching new and diverse textures, people who provide themselves with additional proprioceptive experiences and demand strong and firm hand pressure, e.g. sit on their own hands, strongly tighten their hands on objects, hit their hands with objects with sharp and pronounced textures.

Thanks to carefully selected exercises and massages, one can increase:

    • mobility of the entire upper limb,
